County Jail
One of the duties of the Sheriff is the operation of the county jail, including the safekeeping of inmates and operation of the jail commissary. In February 2009, the Sheriff's Office moved the county jail to the new facility on Larry R. Busby Drive. The jail will hold up to Ninety-Six (96) inmates. This facility allows the Sheriff's Office to not only handle the inmates from Live Oak and McMullen Counties, but allows the county to house inmates from federal and other jurisdictions. This additional housing of inmates has brought the county an increased revenue of over $200,000 per year.
Below you will find helpful information if you have a loved one that is incarcerated in the county jail. If you have any questions, you may contact us at (361) 449-8041 or (361) 449-2271.
